      Part two of two-part series.

Democracy is designed. Apply design tools and thinking to increase civic participation in the city's upcoming elections. Learn and practice how design can make interactions between the U.S. government and its citizens more understandable, efficient, and trustworthy. In the first session, workshop attendees will be introduced to fundamental principles of graphic design, including typography, composition, color theory and production. In the second session, attendees create original, nonpartisan posters and designs advocating for participation in local elections. This program is presented in partnership with AIGA Alaska as part of their Design for Democracy initiative. Participants should bring their own laptops pre-loaded with Adobe Creative Suite. First session homework includes sketching and conceptualization to be completed before session two. $20 each session; registration required. Use museum's 7th Avenue entrance.
